WESTCO™ THERMAL ALUMINUM SPECIFICATIONS

MANUFACTURER: Manufacturer shall be West Window Corporation, located at 226 Industrial Park, Martinsville, Virginia. (P.O. Box 3071, Martinsville, VA 24115, phone 540-638-2394.)

MATERIALS: Frame and sash main members are made of T6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusions with a poured in channel urethane thermal barrier, debridged to prevent temperature transfer through the extrusion. Typical extrusion wall thickness is .062 inches.

CONSTRUCTION: Frame components are assembled using double screw coped corner construction secured by #8 x 1" 410 stainless steel screws. Frame corner seams are sealed with a low modulus, non acetic silicone sealant. Frame depth is 2 5/8" at jamb and head and 2 11/16" at the sill with sill sloped to the outside for positive water drainage. An extruded aluminum combination interlock/fixed meeting rail is used to provide strength and stability to the frame.
Active sash components are joined at the corner using double screw coped corner construction fastened with 410 hardness stainless steel screws set in extruded screw bosses.

GLAZING: Active sash is channel glazed using a flexible vinyl gasket along the perimeter of a sealed insulating glass unit. Active sash may be re-glazed if necessary using existing sash rails. Fixed sash is interior glazed using sealed insulating glass with back-bedding and is secured with a snap-in rigid vinyl bead. Fixed sash may be re-glazed by removing the interior glazing bead. INSULATING GLASS UNITS have an overall thickness of 7/8" and consist of two lites of glass and one air space. The air space is created by a perforated aluminum spacer joined at the corner by injection molded plastic corner keys. A low deflection silica gel based molecular sieve adsorbent is contained in the two longest sides of the aluminum spacer. The edge seal consists of a uniform layer of hot melt butyl sealant. Insulating glass meets ASTM E773 and ASTM E774 specification and achieves a rating of CBA for Sealed Insulating Glass.

SCREENS: Screen frame is of T6063-T6 aluminum alloy extrusion and employs mitered corner construction, fastened at the corner with self locking zinc die cast corner keys. Screen cloth is of aluminum wire mesh held firmly in place by a vinyl spline. Screen is removable to the inside and attaches securely to the window with retainer clips that engage the meeting rail. Two metal spacer buttons at the bottom of the screen help water run off at the window sill.

HARDWARE: SINGLE HUNG: Window is equipped with spring loaded extruded aluminum claw-type lock that engages a keeper rail extruded onto the sill.
BALANCES are concealed, spiral silicon steel spring type with zinc cadmium plated rod and self-lubricating thermoplastic bearing for quiet, low friction operation. Active sash tilts in and is removable via a locking tilt shoe located in each interior jamb track. Two stamped metal pivot bars located on the bottom of active sash couple the sash to the balance mechanism. TILT LATCHES with thumb actuator allow active sash to tilt in for cleaning and/or removal. SLIDER: Window is equipped with spring loaded extruded aluminum claw-type lock that engages a keeper rail extruded onto the jamb. Double metal rollers with nylon housing are used at the bottom of the active sash. Weep holes are located six inches from each end of the exterior sill face.

WEATHERSEALS: SINGLE HUNG: Two rows of center fin wool pile weatherstripping are used along the stiles of the active sash and along the fixed meeting rail. One row of polypile weatherstripping is used on the bottom of the active sash along with one row of vinyl bulb seal at the frame sill. SLIDER: Two rows of center fin wool pile weather-stripping are used along the stiles of the active sash. One row of center fin wool pile weather-stripping is used on active jamb stile. Two rows of center fin wool pile weather-stripping are used at the at the active sash top and bottom rails and at the active meeting rail stile.

FINISHES: All aluminum extrusions in master frame, sash, sash lock, and screen are finish painted with an electrostatically applied enamel in a choice of four colors: White, Bronze, Tan, or Clear Anodized.

INSTALLATION: Installation of window shall be furnished by others and shall be done in a professional manner. Window shall be set plumb and square in opening with no twisting or distorting of the window, and shall be properly anchored. A non-hardening sealant compatible with aluminum shall be provided by the installer and applied by the installer in sufficient quantity to provide a watertight seal between the window and opening.

OPERATION: After installation, window shall operate smoothly with no binding of the active sash. Active sash shall tilt in (single hung) or remove (slider) for cleaning. Sash locks shall positively engage the lock keeper rail when in the closed and locked position.
